Hunting Brook Gardens, home to Jimi Blake, is set in the foothills of the Wicklow Mountains. Famous for its borders, Hunting Brook has one of Ireland's largest private collections of plants and here you will find many examples of the exquisitely colourful, large-scale planting combinations, for which Jimi Blake has become so well known.
The constant changing palette of plants, reflects this modern garden-maker’s unbounded enthusiasm for creative gardening. He shares his knowledge generously with those who visit the garden, or who have enrolled in his Plantsperson’s Course, which runs one day a month over the course of a year. Jimi’s endgame is to find the very best, longest-flowering perennials, grow them in combination with great foliage plants in a way that’s both modern and inventive, to ensure that Hunting Brook looks great from early spring until first hard frost.
This is a modern garden set in an ancient landscape - at the bottom of a secret, shady gorge is the chattering mountain stream that gives Hunting Brook its name and meandering paths will take you to a solitary Bronze Age standing stone which keeps watch over Jimi’s endeavours.
‘Hunting Brook is a garden that is endlessly beguiling and however many times your visit it you always find something new’
